Tamara Baskin

Born and raised in Israel, Tamara Baskin moved to the United States where she began her career in art. She had twenty years experience working in several mediums, but was drawn to the art of fused glass production. Her emphasis was in creating elegant but functional pieces designed to celebrate Jewish life cycles. Her tzedakah boxes, menorahs, seder plates appear in the homes throughout the world.

Never content with sitting back, she forged ahead by experimenting with new shapes, colors, patterns, and materials. Tamara became a true leader in the glass industry by both judaica and non-judaica guilds throughout the world.

In the past few years, she moved beyond the confines of functional judaica. This new vision led to the production of larger pieces of ornamental art.

On August 11, 2007, Tamara Baskin passed away. Her designs continue to be produced by her family and staff.

Blackthorne Forge is owned and operated by Blacksmith Steven Bronstein. He and his helpers have been creating functional and sculptural ironworks for over twenty five years. At the forge one can find both traditional and contemporary tools that are available to the modern blacksmith.

His designs strive to blend the primitive charm of ironwork with the energy and interest of more contemporary design.

Clocks, vases, bookends, floor lamps, sundials, garden sculpture and fountains are just a few of the objects for which Steven has sought to blend the functional with the sculptural.

Relying on the qualities that make iron such a beautiful material, Steven's pieces are both delicate and rugged.

The lower stone section holds the Matzah and the glass upper portion, which act as a cover, is the actual Seder Plate which includes six glass dishes.

A beautiful and impressive Jerusalem stone Seder Plate. All stone with holes carved out to contain the six hand made glass bowls. Surface of stone is etched with a relief of the names of the six seder plate symbolic foods and also decorated with a floral relief in the stone.

A stunning and beautiful glass Seder Plate. A Jerusalem Stone Star of David is imbedded in the glass. Pesach, in stone, is at the center of the start. Six hand made triangular bowls are nested between the corners of the star. Absolutely beautiful.

This mostly hand made glass Seder Plate is supported on four Jerusalem Stone legs. "Pesach" in stone is imbedded in the center of the plate.

Sara and Michael Beames

They started Beames Designs! in 1990 In a studio adjacent to their home, tucked into the beautiful Catskill Mountains, they produce hand made fused glass Judaica and Home Accessories.

Sara is the driving force behind the glass design. With a degree in Art from San Francisco State University and many years in the commercial art world, she has turned her passion for glass and good design into a joyous livelihood. Her work has received three Niche Award Nominations.

Michael, who grew up in Australia has a background in education and business. His work entails the administration of the business, as well as sandblasting and final quality control.

Beames Designs! work can be found in galleries and craft shops throughout the United States, as well as in Japan, Hong Kong, England, South Africa and Australia. Special Collections include an ornament for the White House, Washington DC (now in the Clinton Library), and an Eternal Flame sculpture for the Kingston City Hall, Kingston, NY. Their goal is to create artwork that is functional, aesthetically appealing and accessibly priced.

They usetheir talent to create very unique glass pieces.The collection is a collaboration of material and man, combining the simplicity of the material and the skills of the artist resulting in an art glass collection of bowls ,trays and decorative pieces.

Their Judaica line includes many beautiful ceremonial items. Their Naharia Glass line is known for the many beautiful glass designs used during the holidays in many homes worldwide.
