Harvey Rogosin
Harvey is a native New Yorker who has been residing in East Brunswick, New Jersey for the past 26 years. As a self taught artist, he began experimenting with oil painting in his early years and produced colorful landscapes. Harvey also honed his artistic skills in contemporary art. His education Architecture at New York Institute of Technology also contributed to his unique sense of artistry. The responsibilities of being a husband, father and working architect temporarily halted his artistic path but did not curtail the desire to continue in creative endeavors.
Upon resuming his desire to paint, Harvey chose pastel as his medium. This medium of choice was preferred due to its workability and wonderful array of colors.
Harvey paints mostly from compositions that are created from digital photographs. In his own words, “I can be anywhere when a scene catches my eye. My camera is always at my side. I am also an avid cyclist. When on rides I take that photograph and turn it into a special piece of art. I envision these scenes behind glass with matting and frame. Colors, light, shadow, mood and the time of day have so much of an effect on my artwork”.
Harvey is a member of Edison Arts Society, Monmouth County Arts Council, Guild of Creative Arts and the Pastel Society of New Jersey

The Autumn of Our Fathers
(Dutchess County, NY)
It's that time of the year when the trees change color. The corn has been harvested and it will be time to hibernate. The bright and earthly colors of autumn bring out the best that Mother Nature provides

The Fog Bank
(Dutchess County, NY),
A mid-morning landscape when the sun starts burning away the dew and fog. The over-shadowing tree and the trees at a distance will eventually start to shine in the noon sun. It ended up becoming a beautiful day.

The Calm Before the Storm
(Tuscany, Italy)
This is what it looks like in Tuscany just before a storm rolls in. A slight ray of sun slowly washes away as the shade produced by the incoming clouds, covers the earth just before the rain start falling.

Reflections at Bubble Pond
(Acadia National Park, Maine)
This is a painting taken from a photograph that I took at Bubble Pond located in Acadia National Park, Maine. What a beautiful area of the U.S. to paint. The reflection is somewhat of an illusion on how the trees at both sides of the pond dilate in the calm of the water.

A Ray of Sun
(Dutchess County, NY)
Just after the sun burns away the mist and fog of the morning, you can realize the beauty of the landscape and mountains beyond. This, as the days of autumn comes to a close.

The Face of Vernazza
(Cinque Terre, Italy)
Cinque Terre is located off the Ligurian Coast in Northern Italy. It consists of 5 small picturesque cities. Vernazza is a place where you can sit in the town plaza and dream. This facade is probably centuries old and destined to last forever in my mind.

The Pansy Brothers
(Cape Cod, Ma.)
These pansies look more like triplets. I saw the opportunity to paint these beautiful flowers because of the colors. My pastels can see to that. They look so real. It makes me think that I can take them right off the page.
